Staying Young

- Sleep - 8 to 10 hours uninterrupted nightly, the body heals and recharges in the prolonged sleep.
- Eat revitalizing food - fresh and with the least processing possible. Avoid processed sugar and dairy - except eggs, please eat them - especially with runny yokes. Use olive oil and avoid oils that solidify when chilled.
- Cardiovascular exercise - minimum 3 hours weekly.
- Exercise that provides for supple and strong joints, a strong spine, flexibility and balance (Pilates accomplishes this.) - 3 hours weekly.
- Challenge the brain during organized purposeful movement - this stimulates brain cell growth and aids coordination (Pilates accomplishes this.).
- Positive attitude - all the time.

Other items to realize, consider, activate
- Red wine acts as an anti-oxidant - although beware, consumption can lower metabolism and raise appetite, so pay attention.
- Don't smoke.
- Have a pet.
- Go dancing.
- Maintain a healthy weight - so your body doesn't have to overwork, have a maximum 25 BMI.
- Love yourself.
- Think young at heart.
- Exfoliate your skin.
- Hydrate your skin.
- Wash your face (and or shower, or bathe) before before bed at night, this removes the dead skin and aids rejuvenation of tissues.
- Smile and laugh - the brain doesn't know why you are smiling, so the favorable chemicals are released simply because of the smile. Then with the smile, you will feel better - then you will want to smile anyway.  Then there are more beneficial chemicals.
- The body is designed to heal itself when the barrier to healing is removed.
- Face what bothers you, resolve it with kindness and grace - no excuses.
- Use anger for the greater good, then let the anger go - it will deplete the body's resources and contribute to disease, and aging.
- Do no harm.
- Avoid physical pain - this only exacerbates an existing problem.
- Have a satisfying job.
- Have a satisfactory sex life
.
- Have close friends.
- Have a fun hobby.
- Take time to rest and re-charge.

Increased oxygen and hydration with rest and optimism are critical.  Healthy blood tests at a pH of 7.35 to 7.45, therefore it is also critical in maintaining an alkaline saliva of 7.35 to 7.45.  Test the saliva with litmus paper first thing in the morning.

An alkaline condition in the body is the most efficient method of fighting and preventing disease. Disease contributes to excess wear on the body and therefore enhances the aging process.
- Struggling to maintain an alkaline condition, after all the above?  Add a (non time-release) supplement  of 1000 mg of Vitamin C daily.
- Know that in Chinese Medicine 6000 mg of Vitamin C daily is yields The Fountain of Youth,
- Vitamin C is water soluble and is not stored in the body, therefore when bowel intolerance occurs, and no more is ingested on the day, an overdose will not occur - resume the process the next day.

It is all connected
Of course it is not possible to stay young and in not wanting to contribute to a life of denial - let's think instead of desiring the vibrant energetic stamina and exuberance of youth.

Life is often confusing.
Let's work toward clarity with consistency and thinking for yourself.  These behaviors will contribute to the sense of staying young and begin to eliminate the confusion.  And remember it is our job, every day, to take good care of ourselves.  Trust me, in so doing, your body will respond favorably and contribute to your sense of health, well-being and youth.

Regarding Keeping Cells Healthy - How We're Made
Daily, the body has 432 billion cells that die and are replaced with new cells.  This is key to regenerating the body and staying young. Due to this you may have a better functioning body next year if you want, with less pain and more energy, if the necessary action is taken.

The 432 billion number is a scientific estimate.  Cells are so small and the volume is so vast (somewhere between 60 -100 trillion) that no one could know for sure.  This is also why one doesn't notice the body renewing all the time, however it is.

Rejuvenation Towards a New Body:
- Cells in the digestive system, from the stomach to the large bowel are replaced every 5 minutes.
- The liver is replaced every five months.
- A new covering of skin happens every four weeks.
- The heart is replaced every six to nine months.
- The liver is capable of renewing and repairing from as little as 25% of its tissue.
- Brain cells regenerate.

Degeneration versus Regeneration
In theory a new body is being created by slowly acquiring new cells daily.  The question then, is whether our new cells will be healthier or less healthy.

The quality of the new cells is dependent on the food and the liquids that were ingested when the replacement cells were in creation.  If the body is fed the proper food and nutrition, the new cells formed can actually be stronger and healthier then the old cells ever were.

This is regeneration.  If the body is fed poorly, the result will be cells of an inferior quality.  This is degeneration.

There are limits, of course.  Researchers estimate that 30 percent of health is determined by genetics. That leaves substantial options for the remaining 70 percent.  Even genetics have been shown to be moderated by the environment.
